Peewee Grey Raiders season comes to an end

October 4, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
ST VITAL - What an exciting game for the kids and an even more exciting game for the spectators to watch.  The kids sure came out to play and play they did.  They held a first place St Vital Mustangs team to a difficult game and made them work very hard for every point they got.  On the first Mustangs drive, an unbelievable Raiders defense held them on the goal line.  This was the first of many amazing stops this game.  At the end of the first half the score was Mustangs 6 Raiders 0.  The Mustangs came back to score 12 points in the second half and finished the game with only 32 points. The defense came out with one goal in mind and that was to stop a very large offense.  The Eastman offense played hard but just couldn’t get the ball across the goal line but they never gave up and gave tremendous effort. Final score was St Vital 32, Eastman 0.   This loss finished the season for the team but the coaching staff would like to say thanks to all the players and parents for their dedication and all their hard work for such a difficult season.

Atom Raiders: Oh what a season!

September 28, 2008 - by Suzanne Wilkinson
STEINBACH - Well the Atom Raiders season drew to an end today after remarkable ups and downs in an entertaining game that ended in a final score of 38-67 in favor of the Eastside Eagles. The 1st quarter saw the Raiders take off to a quick lead with a TD in the first drive and the offense kept that momentum all the way through the quarter with a lead of 19-7. The 2nd quarter saw the offense fight hard with solid runs up the center by #41 Braedon Penner and #16 Bailey Harder but the offense seemed tired from all the posession time as the defense tried to fight back to give them a break after 3 downs and out at the Raiders 5 yard line repeated itself 3 times in the last 5 minutes of the quarter when #29 Kyle Martens and #68 Brady Lenton made a huge tackle to keep us in the game on #1 whose speed at times was untouchable. By the end of 2 the Eagles had taken the lead by 2. The 3rd quarter saw back and forth action as the defense and offense on both teams fought an error only quarter and exchanged TD's from end to end. The score at the end of 3 was 32-41. Going into the 4th it was either teams game but it was the Eagles who prevailed although the Raiders never stopped playing which is always a compliment to the heart of any team when they play their best no matter what the score! The Atoms have had a tremendous season that from from start to finish is an amazing testament of how hard work, grit and determination result in T-E-A-M as they celebrated a season of friendship, fun, and football despite the scoreboard. Congratulations on a truly successful year!.

Peewee Grey Raiders play at last

September 27, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
CHARLESWOOD - Well the PeeWee Grey finally were able to play a game on Saturday after 2 weeks of cancellations. This Saturday was the start of a very busy week for the team because they have 2 make up games. The game against the Broncos was a hard fought battle, you could hardly tell the team hadn’t played a game in 2 weeks. At the half the score was 26-6 for the Broncos but the Raiders were fighting hard. The defense was lead by Brock Letkeman and Graeme Neufeld who had an unbelievable game. They both were involved in many strong tackles which denied the strong Broncos offense from entering into the end zones and caused them to turn over the ball. The offense played hard with Luke McAllister scoring the lone touchdown from a handoff from MacKenzie Hildebrand. The offense fought hard but the Broncos held them back in Broncos territory just shy of the goal line. The team was fired up this game as long snapper Chris Cvetkovic from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers sat in the stands to cheer the Eastman Raiders PeeWee Grey team on. Final score was Charleswood Broncos Gold 42, Eastman Raiders PeeWee Grey 6.

Stay tuned for the two make up games to be played at the East Side Eagles field on Monday and Thursday against the 1st and 2nd place Nomads teams.

Atom Raiders keep on rolling

September 21, 2008 - by Suzanne Wilkinson
CHARLESWOOD - Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'! Continuing on with last weeks team spirit and hard work the Atoms fought their way to a 53-50 win over the Charleswood Broncos. The first quarter saw #75 Logan Beckman make a fantastic catch for a 20 yard gain and #79 Eric Loeppky run another 39 to score our only touchdown leaving us down by 8 going into the 2nd quarter, thanks to a solid defense and with #41 Ryder Martens and #53 Cyrus O'Connor both making hard tackles for losses against the Broncos offense. In the 2nd we saw #12 Landon Wilkinson and #79 Eric Loeppky team up several times for major gains and 2 more touchdowns for the team. The defense had more great plays as #85 Zachary Hepner made 2 touchdown saving tackles! Our special teams also made huge contributins with #41 Ryder Martens making a 30 yard return in the 1st and #56 MacKenzie Dueck making a 20 yard return in the 2nd. The score was 20-26 in favor of the Broncos at 1/2 time.

In the 3rd #75 Logan Backman made an exciting 13 yard gain while executing a perfect reverse! #12 Landon Wilkinson ran in 2 long touchdowns 68 and 78 yards, thanks to the hard work of his o-line blockers #51 Cody Letwinetz, #42 Riley Doerksen, #77 Tyler Martens, #62 Braedon Plett, #30 Joshua Lepp, #69 Tyler Preteau, and #59 Dustin Erickson. Once again our special teams worked their magic as #69 Tyler Preteau recovered a kick-off to keep posession in the Raiders hands. The Raiders finally had the lead at the end of the 3rd by 2 with a score of 34-32. The defense started out with a huge tackle for HUGE loss in the fourth made by #66 Austin Buhler. #41 Ryder Martens also made another big tackle for a loss. When the offense made it back on the field #30 Joshua Lepp turned a 30 yard pass completion into a touchdown! As the quarter went on the excitment kept stirring...as the score board went back and forth the plays kept us onedge as we made a 23 yard pass which was fumbled and "WOOHOO!" recovered by #77 Tyler Martens to keep our drive alive and give us the winning touchdown!

Great game boys, way to keep working! Next game September 28, 10:00 AM vs the Eastside Eagles White on the Raiders field.

Midget Raiders defeat Falcons

September 15, 2008 - by Christian Sanchez
GREENDELL - The Eastman Raiders (2-1) Midget team faced the Greendell Falcons (0-2) after a long bye week. The Raiders opened up with a first quarter full of experimenting with “trick plays” and continued through out the first quarter. After many attempts and dropped balls, the Raiders went back to basics for the 2nd and 3rd quarter. The second quarter was a showcase of speed, intensity and power from the Raiders defense as middle linebacker AJ Nielsen would intercept and run the ball back (untouched) for a picture perfect 55 yard touchdown return. The Raiders defense continued to pound the Falcons offense with middle linebacker Alex Pilloud sacking the quarter back an amazing 5 times as well as 14 tackles and forcing the Falcons QB to throw under extreme pressure causing 4 interceptions (2 ints from Safety Alex Lenton, 1 from AJ Nielsen and 1 from Joss Gowland).

The Raiders offense came to life scoring 4 touchdowns in the 2nd and 3rd quarter with over 400 yards passing and 3 touchdowns from QB Kelly Sansregret. Sansregret would find Matt Wollman for 2 touchdowns, rookie running back DJ Reimer for a huge 43 yard touchdown reception, rookie slotback Kerry Friesen for 7 catches and over 100 yards. The Raiders will face Greendell again this coming weekend at home as they prepare for the big matches against the Mustangs and Nomads in the coming month. With a win next week the Raiders will clinch a spot in the Semi-Finals.

Defensive Player(s) of the Game: #36 Alex Pilloud and #99 AJ Nielsen
Offensive Player of the Game: #18 Kelly Sansregret

Atom Raiders win!

September 14, 2008 - by Suzanne Wilkinson
ST JAMES - WOOHOO! We won! 43-13 for the home team on Raiders Day! Both offense and defense put out stellar performances throughout the entire game...they were a true testament to all of the hard work and learning they have shown committment to this season. Opening the game with a touch down drive run in by the quarterback #12 Landon Wilkinson. In the second quarter we had a touchdown run in by #86 Lucky Thiessen who stepped up to play for the offense after practicing all season with the defense and our defense recovered a fumble by the quarterback of the Portage Pitbulls scored by #73 Josiah Rogalsky. The team succeeded with several pass completions, tackle breaking runs, outstanding pass coverage and pressure by our defense, and pure enthusiasm from the bench to the field throughout the entire game! Player of the game awards went to Bailey J Harder#16 for the offense and Wellington Driedger #80 from the defense. The second half saw a much improved and still determined Portage Pitbull team playing the game to the very end in a fine show of sportsmanship. WAY TO GO ATOMS! WHAT A FANTASTIC REWARD FOR A HARD WORKING TEAM!

Peewee Teal - week six game report

September 14, 2008 - by Brett Daley
STEINBACH - The Raiders Teal team was at home this weekend taking on the Portage La Prairie Pitbulls on Raider Day. After their comeback attempt fell short in St James in Week 5, the Raiders were looking for a win at home on Raider Day. The Raiders defense took the field to start the game but lasted only two plays as Shane Nicol (#8) made an interception on the second play of the game. Two plays later Raiders QB Cody Erickson (#16) ran in a 35 yard TD for the first score of the game. Towards the end of the 1st Quarter Raiders RB Troy Wollman (#10) took a run up the middle 15 yards for the second TD of the game, following a 2 point convert the Raiders led 14-0. In the 2nd Quarter Cody Erickson would break off another TD run giving the Raiders a 22-0 lead going into Half Time. In the 3rd Quarter the Pitbulls defense would tighten up a bit but their offense wasn't able to capitalize as the Raiders defense remained strong. In the 4th Quarter Cody Erickson broke free again for his third touchdown of the day, giving the Raiders a 30-0 lead. Towards the end of the 4th Quarter Raiders RB Marc Kirouac (#28) would add his name to the score sheet as he would run in a 25 yard TD run. The Raiders defense remained dominant all day long, with a number of players making great plays including Derek Price, Gregory Karlenzig, Cole Watts, Shane Nicol and Patrick Bissonnette. Derek Price also went 4 for 5 on convert kicks acounting for 8 points. For Raider Day the Raiders Football Club was awarding one Raider player the Sportsmanship of the Game award, which went to Offensive Lineman Julian Clibbery, always giving 100% on the field, and also had two rushes for 20 yards in the game. The Raiders are in Charleswood next weekend taking on the Broncos, kickoff is at 12:30.

Atom Raiders come up short against St James

September 10, 2008 - by Suzanne Wilkinson
ST JAMES - In a fantastic display of growth the Atom Raiders team delivered a fine performance on the field of the St James Rods on Sunday, September 7th. The game ended in a final score of 27 to 13 in favor of the Rods, but the Atom defense was shining through out the entire game and the offense while working hard the O-line did find it difficult to protect the offense from the Rods D. It was a special day for the Rods whom awarded players of the games to players on each team. Our deserving players were Andre Bouchard for the defense and Dustin Erickson for the Offense. WAY TO GO BOYS! We hope to see plenty of fans out to cheer on all the teams as we host a series of home games on Raiders Day this Saturday September 14th!

Peewee Teal - week five game report

September 7, 2008 - by Brett Daley
ST JAMES - Week 5 had the Raiders Teal in St.James taking on the 3-1 Rods. The Raiders were looking for their 2nd win of the season coming off last week's win over the Grizzlies, and the Rods were looking for a win at home Rods Family Day. The first quarter was dominated by defense from both teams, and after the first there was no score. The Raiders drew first blood in the 2nd quarter on a 65 yard TD run by Raiders QB Cody Erickson (#16), giving the Raiders a 6-0 lead. But the Raiders would be plauged by injuries in the 2nd quarter, with 5 players going down with injuries. With a suddenly short bench, and emergency substitutions affected the Raiders momentum and rythm as they gave up 18 points in the 2nd quarter, going into the half down 18-6. Fortunately the start of the 3rd quarter saw all 5 injured players return to the game. The Raiders defense would come out strong in the 3rd quarter, but a few mistakes led to another Rods touchdown making it 24-6. The Raiders offense would finally regain their momentum at the end of the 3rd as Raiders RB Marc Kirouac (#28) made a great 25 yard TD run. That TD was setup by Raiders RB Troy Wollman (#30) picking up a key first down on 3rd and 4 with a hard nosed run up the middle, driving through defenders for the first. With the Rods running game getting shut down by the Raiders defense they went to the air early in the 4th for a TD pass that made it 30-12. The Raiders would respond with another 35 yard TD run for RB Marc Kirouac to make it 30-18. Towards the end of the 4th the Raiders defense was hit with another two injuries, and then gave up another TD pass as the Rods would seal the game, final score: Rods 36, Raiders 18. Despite all the injuries on the field, fortunately none of the players were seriously injured. The Raiders are at home next weekend to take on the Portage La Prarie Pitbulls. Kickoff time is 1:30.

Fast Lions offense too much for Peewee Grey Raiders

September 6, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
FORT GARRY - The PeeWee Grey team ended up short this week but not without trying. In the very first play of the game Brock Letkeman threw a torpedo pass to receiver Taylor Neufeld and she ran it in for the first touchdown of the game. It was an amazing sight to see. The Lions defense held the offense to only the one touchdown in the first half and the score was 24-6 for the Lions. The team was able to put some points on the board but just could not stop a fast Lions offense. Fort Garry Lions 42, Raiders Peewee Grey 20. The next game will be at Raiders Day against the Nomads.

Peewee Teal - week four game report

August 31, 2008 - by Brett Daley
CRESCENTWOOD - Sunday afternoon the Raiders Teal rolled into Crescentwood for their second road game of the season. The Grizzlies Black were coming into Week 4 looking for a win to improve on their 2-1 record, while the Raiders were looking for their first win of the season. The second play of the game, the Grizzlies scored on a 55 yard run to take an early 6-0 lead. The Raiders offense took the field, looking to bounce back from their Week 3 performance where they struggled against the Lions. The Raiders would take the field and drive the ball 85 yards on an 8 play drive that was capped off by a 35 yard TD run by Raiders QB Cody Erickson (#16) to tie the game 6-6. The Raiders 8 play drive ate up most of the clock in the 1st Quarter. In the 2nd, the Raiders defense was all over the Grizzlies, forcing several 3 and Out's. This week the Raiders offense would capitalize on those opprotunities, first with Raiders QB Cody Erickson burning the Grizzlies a second time, this time on a 70 yard TD run. Towards the end of the 2nd Quarter the Grizzlies would get inside the Raiders 20 yard line before turning the ball over. After a penalty put the Raiders on their own 10 yard line Raiders RB Marc Kirouac (#28) would break free for a TD run going 100 yards downfield for the score. The Raiders took a 21-6 lead into Half Time.

Early in the 3rd Quarter Raiders TE Cody Price would pick up 15 yards on a great catch, unfortunately the Grizzlies were able to force a fumble. After another great defensive stand, the Raiders would move the ball again deep into Grizzlies territory, this time Cody Price made up for the eariler fumble by making a great catch in the end zone to bring the Raiders to a 29-6 lead. As the Raiders proceeded to try and run the clock out with the lead late in the 4th Quarter, the Grizzlies would go down swinging as they surprised the Raiders defense for two quick scores in the final minutes, however the come back attempt came too late and the Raiders would go on to win the game 29-20.

The Raiders running backs had a great day, Marc Kirouac (#28) would run for 210 yards and 1 TD, Troy Wollman (#30) would run for 85 yards, and QB Cody Erickson ran for 130 yards himself scoring two rushing TD's and one TD pass. The Raiders defense had a good game as well, registering 5 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss. The Raiders are on the road next weekend to take on the St James Rods, kickoff is at 12:30.

Atom Raiders work hard against a speedy Grizzlies team

August 31, 2008 - by Suzanne Wilkinson
CRESCENTWOOD - Although the Raiders were defeated, there was a great show of sportsmanship and hard work on the field. The offense found it's way to 7 touchdowns through a combination completed passes and hard-fought running drives down the field! The defense's efforts were mighty but the speed of the Grizzlies offense was an ongoing challenge through out the game. The special teams showed tremendous growth with no turnovers and of course the fantastic return for a TD run in by Joshua Lepp wearing number 41! Final score in the game was 83-53 in favor of the Crescentwood Grizzlies Black Team. Next game is Sunday September 7 against the hosting St James Rods Black Team at 10:00am.

Peewee Grey Raiders come back to earn a tie

August 30, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
STEINBACH - What and amazing finish to a game that took the Raiders a while to get established. The home town crowd had reason to cheer their home team on in the second half of the game. At the end of the first half the Grizzlies were leading the game 24-0. The Raiders just could not seem to connect and get the ball moving nor stop the Grizzlies. The coaches took the team to the clubhouse during the half and revved them up. The team emerged by the cheers of the fans and then the 2nd half began and began it did. The Raiders came out hard in the third quarter with the offense scoring 24 points to tie the game. The defense held the Grizzlies to 0 points for the rest of the game. The team played incredible with blocking, running and passing plays which sure turned the game around for the team. There was no scoring in the 4th quarter but the team sure made it exciting. Way to go Raiders, you fought until the end. Final score was Raiders PeeWee Grey 24, Cresentwood Grizzlies White 24.

Mustangs capitalize on Raiders mistakes

August 25, 2008 - by Christian Sanchez
STEINBACH - The Eastman Raiders Midget football team played host to the St. Vital Mustangs team on Saturday. The Raiders team came prepared for a fight but where plagued by mistakes which would cost the game. 4 big mistakes would be capitalized by the Mustangs as they would score 4 touchdowns. The Raiders defense played a phenomenal game as they left their all on the field, proving that our defense can stop the running game which the mustangs are well known for. The Mustangs would go on to score 2 touchdowns from punt returns and 2 offensive touchdowns from great field position given by the Raiders offense. The Midget team will face the Mustangs for a second time on Sept. 27th.
Final score: St Vital Mustangs 37 - Eastman Raiders 2

The Midget teams goes on the road facing the St. James Rods on Monday at 3pm.

Peewee Teal - week three game report

August 24, 2008 - by Brett Daley
STEINBACH - The Raiders came into their Week 3 matchup with the Fort Garry Lions looking for their first win of the season against a strong Lions team. The Raiders defense gave up three quick scores early on in the first quarter, while the offense had trouble moving the ball early on the ground. However the Raiders defense would bounce back in the 2nd quarter making 3 key stops inside their own 20 yard line, forcing the Lions to go 3 and out in three consecutive drives. Unfortunately the Lions defense would continue to make plays of their own frustrating the Raiders offense in the first half. The Raiders offense would finally get a lift in the 2nd half after some half-time adjustments. Raiders QB Cody Erickson (#16) made a great bootleg run of about 25 yards for a TD, however it was called back on a penalty. Then Raiders RB Marc Kirouac (#28) found a monsterous hole opened up by the O-Line and would take the ball 80 yards for a TD run. RB Troy Wollman (#30) also found some holes through the middle picking up around 30 yards in the second half as well. Cody Erickson also found some running room, picking up close to 40 yards rushing in the 2nd half. In the end the offensive effort came too late as the Lions went on to win 37-7.

The game was delayed longer than normal as Raiders LB Brennan McDougall was injured in the 1st Quarter while making a great sideline tackle to prevent a touchdown while in the process he injured his shoulder. The game was delayed as trainers waited for the ambulance to arrive. Fortuantely, thanks in part to the quick reaction of our trainers, the injury was not severe and the player is expected to be ready to return to practice this week.

The Raiders are in Crescentwood next weekend to take on the Grizzlies Black, kickoff is 12:30 pm.

Tough week for Peewee Grey Raiders

August 23, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
ST VITAL - What a tough third week the PeeWee Grey had against a strong St Vital Mustang team. The team worked very hard to stop a fast team but ran into a few problems in the first half. There were a couple of unfortunate calls that seemed to send the team into a little bit of confusion.  During the break the coaching staff was able to regroup their team and then came out extremely strong only allowing the mustangs to get 1 touchdown in the second half.  The offense was moving the ball and captured some first downs and the defense was stopping them in their tracks.  The defense only allowed 1 convert and blocked the rest which were truly  nice plays to watch.

Our next game will be at home against the Crescentwood Grizzlies White when the team tries to make their record 2 and 2.  The last time this team played in front of their home crowd the team was amazing and stole the show.

Eastman Midgets start season with strong victory

August 19, 2008 - by Christian Sanchez
STEINBACH - The Eastman Raiders Midget team opened its season on Saturday against the Fort Garry Lions with a strong victory. Eastman played host to the championship runner-up of the 2007 season. Fort Garry would take an early lead after a long punt was downed in the end zone for a 1 point score. First quarter was a strong showing of defense from both teams with no touchdowns being scored by either side. 2nd quarter continued to be one of adjustments and strong defense but the Raider offense proved to be a step above the Lions defense as Raider quarterback Kelly Sansregret connected with Matt Wollman on a short pass which turned into a big touchdown reception for Wollman. The Raiders would take a 7-1 lead over the Lions at halftime. The Raiders offense again drove down the field for a 3rd quarter touchdown reception by Gil St. Marie, as the Strong and speedy Raiders defense proved to have too much containment and coverage for the Lions offense. With 26 seconds left in the game, the Raiders drove the ball over 70 yards in 3 plays to score the final touchdown of the game.
Final score: Eastman Raiders 22 – Fort Garry Lions 8.

Offensive Player of the Game: Matt Wollman (137 yards receiving, 2 TDs) & Kelly Sansregret (3 TDs, 200+ yards passing, 1 int)

Defensive Player of the Game: Matt Jasin

SIDE NOTE: The Midget team plays the St. Vital Mustangs at home this up coming weekend, come out and support your team!!!

Atom Raiders face experienced Grizzlies squad

August 17, 2008 - by Calvin Martens
STEINBACH - Our hard working Atom Raiders faced off against the Crescentwood Grizzlies Orange this Sunday in blisteringly hot morning game. Although the Raiders lost 30-0 versus a much more experienced Grizzlies team they continually show improvement as their many first year players are beginning to get used to their positions. The highlights of the game for the Raiders came in the first quarter with Eric L's (#79) 33 yard run on the sidelines before being tackled by the Grizzlies final line of defense and Cyrus O's (#53) outstanding first half defensive play with two big open field tackles and a fumble recovery.

Peewee Teal - week two game report

August 17, 2008 - by Brett Daley
STEINBACH - The Raiders PeeWee (Teal) team took on the Grizzlies (Orange) on Sunday afternoon in another hot weather matchup as temperature hit 37 degrees at it's hottest. Despite the hot weather the Raiders defense was looking for an improved performance from Week 1. The defense looked alot better, however they had to battle bad field position in the 1st Half. Raiders QB Cody Erickson (#16) looked good early on, hitting Brendon Whetham (#15) on a 40 yard TD strike in the 2nd Quarter. Cody Erickson would also contribute in the running game as well, breaking of several big runs for first downs. The Raiders would trail 18-6 going into the locker room at Halftime. The 2nd half was dominated by defense by both teams, however the Grizzlies would manage two more TD's in the 3rd Quarter and early in the 4th Quarter. Towards the end of the 4th Quarter Erickson made a short toss to SB/QB Hans Fehr (#2) who then tossed it 20 yards down field to Tyson Worms-Sansregret (#12) setting the Raiders up on the 5 yard line. Two plays later Cody Erickson would toss the ball to RB Marc Kirouac (#28) on a broken play that ended up in the end-zone. The Final Score, 32-14. The Raiders take on the Lions next weekend at AD Penner Park. Kickoff Sunday, 1:30 pm.

Nationals shut-out Peewee Grey Raiders

August 16, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
TRANSCONA - What an exciting game that the PeeWee Grey had this weekend. They may have lost the game but it sure was an exciting one! The score at the half was 8-0 for the Nationals team. The Raiders offense kept driving the ball only to fall a little short on the touchdowns. They drove the ball all the way down the field a few times but just couldn’t put it across. A strong defense held the Nationals team to hardly any yardage in the first half. They stopped the Nationals on the goal line and also blocked a field goal kick. Unfortunately, two errors on the Raiders caused two touchdowns, but the game stayed close as the teams were equally matched. The final score was: Raiders PeeWee Grey 0, Transcona Nationals 23. The Raiders next game is away against the St Vital Mustangs. Way to go Players, what an effort!!

Peewee Teal - week one game report

August 10, 2008 - by Brett Daley
GREENDELL - On Sunday the Pee Wee Teal team was in Greendell to take on the Falcons in Week 1. The offense had trouble getting things going early, and Greendell's offense had taken an 18-0 lead midway through the 2nd Quarter. However the Raiders offense came alive at the end of the 2nd Quarter, driving the ball over 50 yards, which was capped off with a brilliant play by Quarterback Cody Erickson (#16), on what initially was a pass play, but which turned into a 20 yard scramble for a TD on a great individual effort.

The Raiders started the 2nd Half with the ball, and Running Back Troy Wollman (#30) broke free for a 60 yard TD run which cut the lead to 6. The Falcons offense would respond however with a TD of their own, taking a 24-12 lead into the 4th Quarter. But the Raiders weren't done. Following a 25 yard penalty which had the Falcons kicking from close to their 10 yard line, the Raiders were in great field position to start the 4th and the capitalized. Troy Wollman (#30) again would break free, this time on a 25 yard TD run, with the convert they cut the lead down to 24-19 at the mid-way point of the 4th Quarter. But the Falcons offense would respond one more time with about 3 minutes left in the game to make it 30-19 which would end up being the final score.

The Raiders Pee Wee Teal team now prepares for their Home Opener next Sunday, kickoff is 1:30.

Peewee Grey Raiders defeat Rods in home opener

August 9, 2008 - by Debbie Renaud
STEINBACH - What an exciting way to start a new football season for the PeeWee Grey team. The team came out to play and play is what they did.  Both offense and defense played an amazing game and a tremendous effort was put in by all of the players. They worked hard as a team and they won as a team. The offense drove the ball hard with running and passing plays while the defense was stopping the Rods offense in their tracks with only allowing one touchdown to happen.  Way to go team!

Midget Raiders name all-stars, take home league award

October 16, 2007
STEINBACH - The MFLM season has come to an end, the Midget Raiders finished with the same record as last season, however they will fall 2 points shy of securing a playoff positon. However before the post-season begins, teams selected their MLFM league all-stars, and the league selected their annual award winners. This year the Raiders were allowed to select 4 players as league all-stars.

Luc Ducharme, Randy Hayden, Alex Pilloud and Brent Noelette were selected by the Raiders coaching staff as the Raiders MFLM league all-stars.

Luc Ducharme (#77)

Randy Hayden (#45)

Alex Pilloud (#99)

Brent Noelette (#24)

Kelly Sansregret (#18)

Luc Ducharme (#77) led all receivers in the league with 856 yards which left him more than 400 yards ahead of the second place receiver. He hauled in 7 touchdowns and was virtually unstoppable on the field.

Randy Hayden (#45) played Iron Man all season long, playing Left Tackle and filling in at Centre on the Offensive Line, and playing Defensive End along the Defensive Line. He was solid on the O-Line, and led the all Defensive Linemen in the league with 35 tackles.

Alex Pilloud (#99) started at Safety and Linebacker at different times throughout the season. Alex was a force on defense, whether dropping back in coverage, stopping the run, or providing pressure with pass rushing. While he missed the season opener he came back and made up for lost time, finishing 4th in the league in tackles.

Brent Noelette (#24) was a dominant force at Middle Linebacker. Making tackles all over the field, Brent was the top run stopper on the Raiders defense, making it difficult for opponents to run the ball up the middle. While injuries limited him to only 5 games this season, he still finished second in the league with 56 tackles, just 4 shy of first.

Raiders Quarterback, Kelly Sansregret (#18), also took home an award. He was one of the three players who finished in a 3 way tie in awards voting for the MFLM Rookie of the Year Award. Kelly was impressive as a rookie quarterback, throwing for 1,400 yards and tossing 11 TD passes in his first season. This is the first time a Raiders player has won the Rookie of the Year award.

The Raiders will also hand out several team awards at the Raiders wind-up on November 2nd.

Raiders League All-Stars:

LT/DE, Randy Hayden (#45)
S/LB, Alex Pilloud (#99)

Atom Grey Raiders sunk by St Vital

October 14, 2007 - by Debbie Renaud
ST VITAL - What an exciting game. The Raiders came out full force in the first half and the defense was amazing. The score at the half was St Vital 6, Raiders 0. The team was ready for the win and played all out. Unfortunately the Raiders made a few wrong plays in the third quarter and the Mustangs took advantage and scored. The Raiders came back in the fourth to hold them but just couldn’t get across the goal line. Final score was 32-0 for the Mustangs. This finishes an amazing season for the Atoms! Congrats everyone.

Midget Raiders end season with loss to Lions

Story Image

October 13, 2007
FORT GARRY - The Raiders went into Saturday's coming off the momentum of a big win just 6 days earlier in the mud and rain in Transcona. The first quarter would end scoreless as both the Lions and Raiders defenses would step up, making most of the first half a battle for field position. Then late in the second, trailing 4-0, Raiders QB Kelly Sansregret (#18) would hit SB Luc Ducharme (#77) for his 7th receiving touchdown of the season, it would be Sansregret's 11th touchdown pass of the season. However two scores with less than two minutes remaining in the half would have the Lions going into halftime with a 17-6 lead. The second half would have more field position battles as the Raiders and Lions would jockey for field position. However the Lions would add two more scores taking a 28-6 lead. While the offense had trouble moving the ball through the redzone, the Raiders defense would make sure that the score would not go higher, highlighted by an impressive goal line stand. With the Lions offense having 1st and goal on the 1 yard line, the Raiders defense would not budge as the Lions would fail in three attempts to break through to the end zone. Despite being held by a tough Lions defense, the Raiders offense would keep fighting till the final whistle, making a final march downfield, however time would run out for the Raiders on the Lions 17 yard line, making 28-6 the final score.

FUNK'S TOYOTA OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE GAME:
#18, QB - Kelly Sansregret (305 yards passing, 1 TD)
#77, SB - Luc Ducharme (124 yards receiving, 1 TD)

PRIORITY AUTO SERVICE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE GAME:
#45, DE - Randy Hayden (11 tackles)
#99, LB - Alex Pilloud (5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF)
