Peewee Raiders first loss

STEINBACH - In the words of their team manager, "There were no highlights at this game." The Peewee Raiders suffered their first loss of the 2006 season, being shutout by a score of 29-0 against the St Vital Mustangs Red team. The Raiders had a chance to even the score in the 2nd half, but they wound up about a foot short of the goal line, turning the ball over on downs. On the ensuing drive, the Mustangs managed a 107 yard touchdown run on a halfback sweep, a play that seemed to take the heart out of the Raiders team. Next weekend, the Raiders will face the St Vital Mustangs White team on Saturday afternoon in Steinbach.

Rods defeat Atom Raiders Grey

STEINBACH - The Atom Raiders Grey team faced the visiting St James Rods, in a Raiders Family Days matchup on Sunday afternoon. The Raiders defense faltered in the 2nd half, unable to stop the Rods from scoring. The Raiders did manage to put 32 points on the board, but it wasn't quite enough as the Rods came out on top 52-32. The Atom Raiders Grey will face the North Winnipeg Nomads West team at home next Sunday at 11:00am.

First win for Midget Raiders

STEINBACH - The Midget Raiders battled to their first win of the 2006 season, as the defeated the Transcona Nationals by a score of 22-13. The game took place in front of a large crowd during the Raiders Family Days weekend. The Midget Raiders next game will be a Labour Day matchup as they travel to Fort Garry to take on the Lions on Monday, September 4.

Mustangs top Bantam Raiders

STEINBACH - The Bantam Raiders lost their second game in a row, falling 16-6 to the visiting St Vital Mustangs during Raiders Family Days. The Raiders will try to bounce back to .500 next weekend, as they meet the Greendell Falcons in Steinbach on Saturday, September 2nd.

Mustangs shutout Atom Teal Raiders

STEINBACH - The Raiders Atom Teal team were in tough against the first place St Vital Mustangs Red team on Saturday, August 26. In the first half the Mustangs took a commanding 36-0 lead. The Raiders managed only one 1st-down in the first half. As the Mustangs were swarming the Raiders in the second half the Raiders held the Mustangs to 12 points. The Raiders also had a touchdown called back due to a penalty. The final score was 48-0 in favour of the Mustangs Red. The Raiders will now have to re-group for next Saturday's home game against the St Vital Mustangs White team.

Terminator Grey Raiders first home game

STEINBACH - The Terminator Grey Raiders played their first home game today, as they took on the North Winnipeg Nomads West football team. Here are some game highlights:
● Raiders kick-off to Nomads, giving up an early touchdown
● MacKenzie Dueck (51) returns a kick deep into Nomad territory, but the Raiders were unable to get into the end zone!
● Andre Bouchard (6) makes a touchdown-saving tackle close to midfield
● Dakota Funk (23) sacks the quarterback for a loss and gets a second sack on the next play
● Dueck gets the offence going with a long run deep into Nomad territory! But the Raiders runs out of time in the 2nd quarter
● The game is very close at half time
● Raiders recover a Nomads fumble in the 2nd half
● Raiders executed a nice reverse in the backfield for a modest gain getting them into the Nomad side of the field

Bantam Raiders cruise to victory in season opener

STEINBACH - The Bantam Raiders scored a touchdown on each of their first two plays of the game, as they cruised to victory, 31-6 over the Fort Garry Lions. Phillip Tessier made 4 amazing touchdowns and the defense played really hard to keep the Lions score low. The Wednesday night matchup was called early in the 4th quarter, due to darkness. The Bantam Raiders won't have much time to celebrate the win, as they are back in action this Saturday afternoon in Crescentwood.

Come-from-behind victory for Atom Teal Raiders

STEINBACH - The Atom Teal Raiders won a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the visiting LaSalle Lightning on Tuesday evening. The final score was 27-25 for the Raiders. The Atom Teal Raiders next game will be on Saturday morning in Crescentwood verses the Grizzlies.

Terminator Grey Raiders preseason report

TRANSCONA - Yesterday morning at the Transcona pre-season tournament, the Terminator Grey Raiders had been scheduled to play at 10:30am, however that game was never to be. Our boys, who had been beyond excited to play their first game, ended up very disappointed as the game was cancelled due to lightning and pouring rain. The frustration was short-lived however, as the team finally got their first taste of action on Sunday morning. [ read more ]

Midget Raiders lose preseason matchup

ST VITAL - The St Vital Mustangs defeated the visiting Midget Raiders by a score of 34-0 during a Sunday afternoon preseason matchup. The Midget Raiders open their regular season at home, as they meet the North Winnipeg Nomads on Saturday, August 19th. Kickoff is at 12:30pm.

Atom Teal Raiders preseason action

TRANSCONA - The Atom Teal Raiders team played two preseason games this weekend. They lost 36-0 in the first game to Charleswood Broncos, but later won 22-20 against St James Rods. Marc Kirouc had 2 touchdowns in that second game.

Peewee Raiders shutout LaSalle

STEINBACH - The Peewee Raiders opened their regular season with a 36-0 shutout victory over the LaSalle Lightning on a rainy Saturday afternoon at A. D. Penner Park. Jaylen Plett (98) anchored the Raiders defense, providing little room for the Lightning offense to maneuver. Plett finished the day with with an outstanding interception in the 4th quarter. Next Saturday, the Peewee Raiders are on the road as they visit the Crescentwood Grizzlies.
