Why play football?
It's fun!
Football is one of the most enjoyable and exciting team sports available to youngsters, particularly because of our basic philosophy and special rules.
A chance to play! Our league's participation rules ensure that all players get to play on a regular basis. There are no tryouts, no cuts, no benchwarmers. No one sits on the sidelines while someone else is allowed to play with both offense and defense.
Teamwork!
No other sport requires the same degree of contribution by all team members, no matter what size, position, speed, strength, skill level or other factors. Everyone has an important roll to play.
Learning!
We emphasize teaching fundamental football skills so all players can play to their potential. Coaches are encouraged to become certified, and urged to put the players' well-being ahead of winning or losing.
Sportsmanship!
Fair play is stressed at all times. Football does not appear to cause the same hostility as other sports, and teammates and opposing players learn to respect each other. They play hard, but are expected to learn to win or lose graciously! The league also demands respect for playing rules and game officials. Parents and coaches are expected to set a good example in this respect.
Fitness!
Football offers an opportunity to develop strength, coordination, agility, speed, endurance and other physical attributes. Stretching and conditioning excersizes and warmups are emphasized.
Safety!
Contrary to popular fears, football is one of the safest sports available, due to the quality of equipment, coaching, and playing rules. Serious injuries are rare, and both coaches and game officials are instructed to put players safety ahead of all other considerations.
Development!
There is no better character builder than the sport of football. Competition under carefully planned and closely supervised conditions ensures that young players are allowed and encouraged to develop football and social skills, self esteem and confidence, a positive attitude and healthy work ethic.
Affordable!
All equipment is loaned to players by their football club or organization. There are only incidental costs beyond that of registration. We do our best to make it possible for anyone who wants to play to be able to play.
