Are you ready for some football????
Okay, so it wasn’t a Monday night football game, but the Terminator Teal B Team sure showed up on Sunday afternoon to play against the St. Vital Nomads. Defying the weather, the Teal B’s came out with a bang! The defence forced a turnover by stripping the ball away from the Nomads. Our offence was so pumped up by the play that they scored a touchdown on our opening drive with a running play by Alexis Worms #31 with the carry by Kyle Bolton #19. What a way to start! What a game! Other highlights included ....1) Sawyer Thiessen #41 with an interception. 2) Our first throwing play of the season and a nice catch by Jayden Martens #29. 3) Isaac Dokken #53 stiff arming our opponents for some great runs. 4) Kyle Bolton’s fumble recovery. 5) A huge defensive effort to completely shut out our opponents Jacob Dokken #35 did a great job on the O line. 6) Ending the game on another throwing play a completion for a TD! Wow! Kyle, that was a great throw to Sawyer and Isaac, well done on the run for the conversion! What an improvement Teal B! What a team effort! Great job blocking, tackling, and staying “on side”. We are so proud of you! Can’t wait ‘til next week’s game ‘cuz, “We are ready for more football!!!!”
Peewee Game on Sat Aug 28, 2010
The Peewees played a tough defensive team in the Greendell Falcons. Raiders' Patrick Mandel and James Wiebe had some nice running plays in the first half, and the passing game took off in the second half, but the offense just couldn't put together a scoring drive. Greendell's quarterback operated the offense almost singlehandedly, passing, running (three long touchdown runs), punting, and place kicking (two TD converts). Raiders' defence played a solid game, for the most part containing a very good Greendell running game. The Falcon offense was held scoreless in the second half, but they returned a fourth-quarter punt for their final touchdown of the game. Defensive highlights for the Radiers were a second-quarter interception by Oliver Peters with Falcons threatening to score, and a ferocious third-quarter hit by Logan Beckman, causing a fumble recovered by Tyler Neufeld.
Peewee vs. Crescentwood Grizzlies A - Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Steinbach
The first quarter was very evenly matched, as both teams played great defense, only allowing a few first downs before forcing the other team to punt the ball. The Raiders offense started the second quarter strong with a long Touchdown run up the middle by #2 Patrick Mandel followed by a 1 point convert run by #72 Tyler Neufeld. The Grizzlies soon responded with a TD on a 3rd down gamble from the 1 yard line, but failed on the attempted field goal. The Raiders special teams finished the half strong when #4 Braedon Penner recovered a fumbled punt return, and ran it the rest of the way for a Touchdown. This time Tyler Neufeld kicked the field goal for a 15-6 Raiders half-time lead. In the the third quarter, the visiting team came out very strong, scoring 2 touchdowns to take a 20-15 lead . The fourth quarter started excellent for the Raiders offense as #2 Patrick Mandel ran in for 6 points, which was followed by a 2 point convert for a 23-20 Raiders led. The visiting Grizzlies, responded very strong, scoring on their next 3 possessions to lead the game 40-23. However, the Raiders offense was not willing to give up, and, with great blocking, drove down the field, allowing #18 Seth Derksen to run the ball into the endzone bringing the score to 40-29. The Raiders attempted an on-side kick in the last minute of the game, but were unsuccessful. A great effort by all Raiders players, and and a huge improvement from last week.
GREAT GAME FOR TERMINATOR TEAL VS THE CRESCENTWOOD GRIZZLIES
Terminator Teal's first road game turned out to be a huge step forward for this team. Some highlights along the way: 1. The big run up the right side of the field on the very first play of the game and the touchdown and convert run by Paxton Koop (#32). 2. The strong blocking and defending on the line by Caleb Pammett (#7) and Riley Karlenzig (#6) -- now that's a "wall"!! 3. The pounding blocks and subsequent quarterback sacks by Riley(#6) (aka: The Tank) as well... oh, and he threw in a touchdown run to boot. 4. Two clutch "textbook" tackles by Tyson Koop (#3) plus a big run up the left side of the field and keeping going for a couple extra yards when more than one guy was trying to tackle him. 5. Not one fumble AND great handoffs from both of our quarterbacks, Daniel Galessiere (#1) and Tyson Bennett (#4). 6. A GREAT attitude from Corbin Azure (#59) and the best hustle he's shown all year. 7. A solid tackling game from Dylan Thiessen (#39) including a GAME SAVING, diving tackle on the other team's best running back... unbelievable play!! 8. Probably the highlight of the game were THREE touchdowns by Parker Rempel (#37). Especially one run where he changed directions, jumped over a defender, slipped out of a couple of tackles and just didn't stop till he was in the end zone!! Never mind, they did it all in the blazing sun, strong winds and plus 36 temperature!! Coach Chris Koop was especially excited that we really improved in the areas that we practiced last week!!! Way to go guys -- you truly are the "TEAL DEAL"!!
